“Reimagining Palestine” is the latest installment of Georgetown University in Qatar’s signature Hiwaraat conference series, which engages scholars, experts, and the public in timely and relevant dialogues on globally significant issues. Since its launch in September 2023, the series has curated conferences on topics such as Regional Reflections on the Invasion of Iraq, Global Histories and Practices of Islamophobia, Confronting the Impasse in Afghanistan, Water Security in the Gulf, How Energy Shapes our Everyday Lives, and Gender in Foreign Policy.
Some of the world’s leading academics and practitioners will gather for a thought-provoking exploration of such pressing, forward-looking questions as the future of Gaza and how to make it livable again, to pathways toward a viable Palestinian political future, and the regional implications of the current moment. This conference aims to advance academic discourse on Palestine, meaningfully engaging participants in dialogue that challenges the status quo and envisions new possibilities for justice and peace.
Doha’s strategic position at the crossroads of the Middle East offers a unique vantage point intimately connected to the region’s complex realities. By bringing together a diverse range of regional perspectives here, this will be a forum where history meets possibility, offering participants the opportunity to gain a deeper, more nuanced understanding of one of the most critical issues of our time.
