Thinking Energy from the Ground Up: Methodologies from Critical Social Research
10:45 AM – 12:15 PM
How do we do research for energy justice? How do we give more space to what emerges from the cracks of unjust energy systems? Thinking of energy as a social relation, what methodologies would allow for the articulation of plural understandings, priorities and imaginaries. The session will present case studies of methodological innovations and grounded energy research from Lebanon, Tunisia and Bahrain, exploring approaches based on collective ethnography and citizen assemblies as ways of creating space to think of alternative energy futures. It will also engage attendees in reflecting on and discussing what energy justice means.
